Company Overview

AcroMat is a U.S.-based manufacturer of industrial anti-fatigue mats headquartered in Lakeville, Minnesota. We design and manufacture high-performance anti-fatigue matting solutions for manufacturing facilities, warehouses, laboratories, cleanrooms, food processing facilities, distribution centers, retail counters, standing desks, and other workplaces with prolonged standing throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

About AcroMat

Unlike traditional anti-fatigue mat providers that rely solely on standard rectangular sizes, AcroMat specializes in custom-shaped anti-fatigue mats engineered fit to complex workspaces. Whether your layout requires machine cutouts, lift table accommodations, L-shaped workstations, curved layouts, cable covers, or fully customized floor coverage, AcroMat anti-fatigue mats can be designed to precisely fit the workspace rather than forcing your employees to adapt to limited standard sizes.

With our proprietary custom mat building tool, AcroSketch, users can design AcroMat mats to any size, shape, and features in minutes. AcroMat also offers the industry's largest standard-size mat library for times when custom isn't a need, including 2–6 ft. widths and 2–100 ft. lengths – ultimately, putting the power in the hands of the user to get exactly what they need without limit or compromise.

In addition to unlimited customization capabilities, our products are engineered to perform for years without failure or interruption. Our flagship products – including the 100-1 Series, 100-Cleanroom Series, and 100-ESD Series – are manufactured from molded, closed-cell nitrile rubber foam that is impervious to liquids, oils, coolants, and many industrial chemicals. This material helps eliminate common anti-fatigue mat failures such as liquid absorption, swelling, bloating, shrinkage, flattening, and border curling.

AcroMat anti-fatigue mats have undergone rigorous third-party testing by OSHA-accredited and ISO-accredited laboratories, including accelerated aging, ASTM dynamic fatigue, seam integrity and mechanical pull testing, chair rolling, traction in wet settings, and independend podiatrist review. AcroMat products have earned the American Podiatrist Medical Association (APMA) Seal of Acceptance, National Floor Safety Institute (NFSI) High Traction Certification, and Class 5 Cleanroom Certification.

AcroMat also manufactures Grip-R Non-Slip Coating, an anti-slip backing that can be painted or brushed onto any mat to prevent sliding and slide-related slip and fall hazards.

AcroMat stands behind its products with a Lifetime Performance Warranty that guarantees our mats will never curl, flatten, or lose their ergonomic cushion. This full-replacement warranty reflects our commitment to long-term product performance, holding our team accountable for the performance of your mats, and our belief that industrial anti-fatigue mats should be measured by years of reliable service rather than months. First-time customers are also covered under our 60-day money-back guarantee.

Today, AcroMat serves customers through direct sales, distributor partnerships, and an online ordering platform that allows customers to configure and purchase standard or custom anti-fatigue mats quickly and efficiently – this includes a 5-day guaranteed lead time, more than twice as fast as the 14-day industry norm.

AcroMat has been serving the world's leading brands for over 20 years, including John Deere, Toyota, Textron, Medtron, Stitch Fix, and Pella Windows.

Curl Resistance Testing After Accelerated Aging

The curl resistance test reaffirms our Lifetime Performance Warranty and promise that AcroMat anti-fatigue mats will never curl along the borders, preventing a dangerous trip hazard.

CSA Group, an OSHA Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), subjected our 100-1 Series, 100-Cleanroom Series, and 100-ESD Series mats to 5 years of accelerated aging alongside one of the most commonly used diamond-plate mat designs – an extruded PVC foam mat with a vinyl diamond-plate surface and waterfall edge. The 100-Series mats showed zero sign of curling after five years, while the traditional diamond-plate mat curled in less than one year.

Results:

  • Zero border curl observed after five years
  • Simulated approximately five years of use
  • Compared against leading competitive products
  • Competitor mats curled in less than one year
  • Verifies AcroMat Lifetime Performance Warranty

Test results after 5 years of accelerated aging, showing AcroMat mat did not curl.

Curl Resistance Testing Summary

ASTM D3574-17 Dynamic Fatigue Test by Constant Force Pounding

The standardized ASTM Dynamic Fatigue test confirms our Lifetime Performance Warranty and promise that AcroMat anti-fatigue mats will never flatten or lose their cushion.

DDL Inc., an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory, subjected the AcroMat 100-1 Series, 100-Cleanroom Series, and 100-ESD Series molded nitrile mats to ASTM International D3574-17 Dynamic Fatigue Testing alongside two top-selling competitor mats made from extruded PVC foam. After 80,000 compressions – comparable to 3+ years of steps – our nitrile material maintained over 98% of its thickness and continued to regain form as the pounding wore on. The results show that our nitrile material is permanently resilient. Conversely, the PVC foam mats lost 4.4–6.1% thickness and continued to compress over time, indicating permanent breakdown.

Results:

  • Less than 2% thickness loss; 2% regained over time
  • PVC foam alternatives lost 4.4–6.1%; lost additional cushion over time
  • AcroMat 2.3–3.2x greater resilience than tested PVC foam alternatives
  • Verifies AcroMat Lifetime Performance Warranty

Test results after 80,000 compressions, showing the AcroMat mat's permanent resilience.

Seam Integrity Testing After Accelerated Aging

The seam integrity test proves that AcroMat seams remain fully intact after five years of accelerated aging (heat, chemical and moisture exposure), even growing stronger over time.

CSA Group, an OSHA NRTL, subjected our 100-1 Series, 100-Cleanroom Series, and 100-ESD Series mats to four years of accelerated aging followed by high-force mechanical pull testing. The AcroMat seams grew stronger from year 1–4 despite constant exposure to heat, chemicals, and moisture. Specifically, the average force at break increased by 5.03% from year 1–4, while the average elongation at break reached 202% (or 3X) of its original measurement after four years – both indicating an increase in seam strength over time.

Results:

  • Seams remained intact
  • No failures observed
  • Strength maintained after aging
  • Seams grew stronger from year 1–5
  • Verifies AcroMat Lifetime Performance Warranty

Test results after five years of accelerated aging and mechanical pull testing, showing AcroMat seams grew stronger year over year.

Frequently Asked Questions About Anti-Fatigue Mats

What is an anti-fatigue mat?

An anti-fatigue mat is a cushioned floor surface designed to reduce fatigue and discomfort caused by prolonged standing.

How do anti-fatigue mats reduce fatigue?

They encourage subtle muscle movement that improves circulation and reduces stress on the feet, legs, knees, and lower back.

Why do anti-fatigue mats curl?

Common causes include liquid absorption, material shrinkage, poor design, and degradation of foam components.

How can you prevent anti-fatigue mat curling?

Consider closed cell, molded nitrile rubber, test a free sample mat, and look for warranty protections like AcroMat's Lifetime Performance Warranty.

What causes anti-fatigue mats to flatten?

Material breakdown, and low-quality foam construction (e.g., extruded PVC foam) can cause mats to sink, flatten, and lose cushioning.

How can you prevent anti-fatigue mat flattening?

Consider closed cell, molded nitrile rubber, test a free sample mat, and look for warranty protections like AcroMat's Lifetime Performance Warranty. Remove heavy chairs and table legs from your mats; use mats only with feet.

How long should industrial anti-fatigue mats last?

Performance varies by material and environment, but quality industrial mats should provide years of reliable service. AcroMat anti-fatigue mats are designed to last for 3–8 years in even the heaviest industrial settings.

What is edge-standing?

Edge-standing occurs when employees stand partially on and partially off a mat, creating ergonomic and MSD injury risks.

Why is edge-standing dangerous?

It can increase fatigue, create instability, and contribute to slips, trips, falls, and musculoskeletal strain.

What is the best material for industrial anti-fatigue mats?

Closed-cell nitrile rubber is often preferred because it resists liquid absorption and maintains long-term performance.

Are custom anti-fatigue mats worth it?

Custom mats often improve coverage, reduce edge-standing, and eliminate the need to piece multiple mats together. Piecing mats together can lead to trip hazards due to gaps between mats, overlapping borders, and more frequent sliding.

What is the difference between a manufacturing guarantee and performance warranty?

Manufacturing guarantees only promise your anti-fatigue mats will be made without defect. Manufacturing guarantees do not include performance protections like weakening seams, curling borders, or sinking and flattening cushion. Performance warranties protect against any manufacturing defects and provide performance protections. For example, AcroMat's Lifetime Performance Warranty promises our mats will never curl along the borders, sink, flatten, or lose their ergonomic cushion.

What thickness is best for anti-fatigue mats?

Experienced industry experts, including Crystal Nelson, Certified Ergonomist and Owner of Fargo Ergonomics, and Russell Herbert, Founder and General Manager of AcroMat, state that anti-fatigue mats between 5/8" and 3/4" thick offer the ideal amount of cushion.

Are anti-fatigue mats safe around machinery?

Anti-fatigue mats that are properly sized and designed for the workspace are safe around machinery. If you are piecing mats together or stacking them on top of each other, anti-fatigue mats may increase safety risks near machinery.

Can anti-fatigue mats be used in wet environments?

Molded, closed cell nitrile rubber foam mats are chemical resistant and designed for wet environments, including water, oil, and other chemicals. AcroMat's 100-1 Series, 100-Cleanroom Series, and 100-ESD Series mats are impervious to liquids, meaning they will not absorb any liquids or chemicals over time.

What are ESD anti-fatigue mats?

Anti-fatigue mats designed to safely dissipate static electricity in electronics environments. The AcroMat 100-ESD Series anti-fatigue mat is designed for ESD-safe environments, including a Surface resistance of 5.68 x 10^7 ohms.

What are cleanroom anti-fatigue mats?

Anti-fatigue mats designed for controlled environments where cleanliness requirements must be maintained. The AcroMat 100-Cleanroom Series anti-fatigue mat is Class 5 Cleanroom Certified and specifically designed for cleanroom settings.

How do I choose the right anti-fatigue mat?

Consider workplace conditions, exposure to liquids, worker traffic, layout complexity, durability requirements, and warranty coverage.
